WINS MARCO --
3/18/07 |
One
of the best teams in Division 11 history added another tournament
win to their resume. Team Digestible, led by Mark Wicker, won
the Marco event with a 40.32 pound fish. Second place went to
team MaxMarine/Cabo with their 37.98 pounder. Team Wiltshire
won the Class of 23 with their 28.53.
The event drew 46 teams, due to the inclement weather. Both
John Zalud and Eric Smith put on an excellent event for the
Division 11 opener. The Naples event will certainly be a great
one. |

PULLING OUT OF TEXAS? --
3/17/07 |
After
a remarkable turn of events brought FLW competition back to
the Texas area, the SKA could be pulling their events from this
area. A letter posted on the forum, which was penned by Jack
Holmes, highlights some of the reasons.
The letter is posted on the forum. |

FISHY --
3/4/07 |
Recent
rumors of the SKA and Mercury sale have been heating up. This
weekend's SKA Pro event in Key West may have provided us all
with a little evidence. Mercury officials were spotted at the
weigh-in changing weights on the leader board.
Sure, that doesn't seem like much. But why is a Mercury official
helping out at a Yamaha sponsored event? We will have to wait
and see if this means anything. Stay tuned to KC.com for more
news as it breaks. |

THINK YOU'VE LOST A BIG KING? --
2/23/07 |
Take
a look at this photo submitted by forum member Scott Butterworth.
Butterworth lives on the Sunshine Coast of Australia and targets
a relative to the king mackerel, the spanish mackerel. (No,
not that spanish mackerel!)
Butterworth believes that this specimen would have weighed in
the neighborhood of 40 killograms or 88 pounds. While fishing
a local wreck this huge mackerel was engulfed by an even larger
resident tiger shark. Butterworth recalls how the fish was eaten
right under his boat.
Next time you complain about losing a monster mackerel, think
of Butterworth and this huge fish! |

ANNOUNCES SIGN UP DATE --
2/21/07 |
FLW
Outdoors has announced the sign up dates for both the Kingfish
Series and Tour.
For the Tour, the top 50 teams from the 2006 Kingfish Tour and
the top five teams from each of the 2006 Kingfish Series divisions
must have their deposits for all four tournaments paid by March
14, 2007 in order to secure their priority entry position. Then
Hydra-Sports, Scarab, Seaswirl and Wellcraft boat owners, have
the chance to sign up on March 15, 2007. Finally on March 16,
2007, all other teams will be permitted to sign up. This year
the Tour will have a maximum of 100 teams fishing each event,
so priority goes to teams that sign up for all four events by
March 27, 2007.
For the Series, Genmar owners may sign up on March 19, 2007.
All other teams may sign up the next day to fish any and all
FLW Kingfish Series events. |

RULES ANNOUNCED --
2/21/07 |
FLW
Outdoors has published the official rules for the 2007 season
on their web site. While most of the rules are the same as last
year, there are several noteworthy changes. Rules # 2, 7, and
8 have all been clarified in this year's rules.
Rule # 2 states: The term "captain"
refers to the person FLW Outdoors has contact with in regards
to the team.
Rule # 7 states: Any other words, conduct or
actions (including and not limited to discussion forums and
internet sites) reflecting unfavorably upon efforts to promote
safety, sportsmanship, fair competition and compliance with
the tournament rules, or which fail to comply with these standards
set forth in the first sentence of paragraph 7.
Rule # 8 states: During tournament hours, contestants
may not obtain or receive assistance from noncompetitors. FLW
Outdoors considers only team members that are on the boat as
competitors. The use of mobile communication devices to communicate
with other tournament competitors during tournament hours is
permitted. Boats shall not come together, except in an emergency
situation. In the case of an emergency, the tournament director
must be notified, as soon as it is feasible, by radio (the official
FLW Outdoors radio channel will be assigned at the captain's
meeting) or telephone.
Potential anglers should surely check out FLWoutdoors.com to
see all of the changes that have been made. |
