Kingfish Connection: You won Division 4 in 2004, will you look to repeat that accomplishment this year?

No, this year we are only fishing the St. Mary's tournament. We think that Terry (Adkins) is doing a great job and we really want to support Bluewater Promotions.

Will you look to make a big run for this year's St. Mary's tournament? Where is the concentration of fish now?

I am sure that we will be running at least 100 miles for this event. All the information that I have gathered has told me that there are still good fish located to the South. We will run and get away from the field. But the fish were in Ft. Pierce two weeks ago and disappeared, so it's anyone's game.

Will Elton Bottom be another hot spot this year?

I think there will be a good number of fish caught at the Elton Bottom this year. I believe that there has already been 1 tournament won there this year. But if you put all of those boats at any spot a good fish will be pulled out.

Are there many good fish in St. Mary's, locally?

If the bait shows up there, locally, there could definitely be some good fish caught close. It all depends on the bait.

At this time of year in Georgia, what is the best bait? And what size fish do you think will win this tournament?

It would have to be a pogie. But ribbonfish are also prime baits.

With everything factored in, I think it will take a mid-40 pound mackerel to win this tournament this year.

When you fish a big event how early will you go to prefish? When you are prefishing do you focus on bait or locating fish? If you anticipate running 80 + miles for a tournament, will you prefish that location at all, or go on other location?

I will try to fish at least a day in advance. I really like to concentrate on finding good bait during this time. We will only buy bait if we have to. But that is usually a last resort type thing. We think the fresher the baits the better.

We do a little of both. If we think that the fish are 100 miles away, we will be prefishing 100 miles away. I want to prefish where I am going to fish. You have to be sure if there are fish where you are fishing on tournament days. Making the run blind can sure be a huge waste of gas money and time if there aren't any fish there, come tournament time.

In this event, who do you think the better teams are?

Well, I am not sure who all is fishing this tournament, but I hope that we are the best team on Saturday night. Wild Turkey is fishing in their home waters and is a great team. Southbound seems to have a shiny horse shoe on their boat somewhere. There are several other good teams out there also. It's getting hard to compete with these teams. Most of us are doing the same thing out there. It is just about who gets lucky.

You now fish on team Promarine USA.com, how has that helped your fishing?

Promarine USA.com has been good to us. I can not thank them enough for what they have done for us. They have really helped us with acquiring the 34 Yellowfin that we are currently running. They are truly a great sponsor and partner. We work with Kevin (Hannon) and the guys on Hannon's Cannon very closely.

How else would they have gotten to the top? Loveyameanit.

Do you think more kingfish teams will start to work together in tighter teams, like team Promarine USA.com?

I think it would be a great asset to them if they did.
